Case Study
The Settlement of the Americas
Pete Dauphin
The lands traveled during this migration.
A significant and scrutinized migration was the settlement of Americas over the Bering Strait 15,000 years ago. A temporary land bridge was formed over the strait. This journey was done on foot and began in Siberia. Scientists traced back ancestry and compared genetics of Siberians and Native Americans to make this conclusion.
These migrants ultimately developed into what we know as "Native Americans". The reason for this migration was the climate being too hot or cold. Climates like these directly affect the food supply, which makes these lands extremely difficult to inhabit. Relocating for survival is a major continuity within human migration. This reason is what triggered the earliest and modern migrations. This migration was an early step to humans living across the globe.
